Bit my tongue....is this related?

I bit my tongue pretty badly a couple of days ago. I ended up with a very bad canker sore on my tongue where I bit it. the thing is my neck from the left side (same side I bit my tongue, a bit under the jaw) also hurts.....I cant swallow...is the throat/neck thing related to my tongue incident? or is it not related?
