My 8 week old Shih Tzu is shedding. If I take him and cuddle him, I am left with hair on me. Is this normal?

I brush him daily; he is eating part Royal Canin food and part Purina soft canned food. He hasn't had his shots. He is not nervous, adapted very well to our home. He has been at our house for 2 weeks.
