Is is true that Martin Luther was an anti semite?

Okay. I have been searching for a christian religion that I feel encompes my beliefs. I feel that Lutheran suits me. I however have concern over some things that I have read on the internet about Luther's statements about Jews. I am also aware that people misrepresent other's words to act in their favor when it comes to religion. Please, what is the truth about Luther?
