How long does it take to become a RN?

O.K this is VERY confusing because the school i going to go to they have a LPN "career course" that takes a year to complete then they say that you take the "exam" to become a LPN. Then after that if you decide you can go back to the same school (oh by the way its Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College) and go to the LPN to RN transition cl (which is about 38 weeks) and then at the end of the course you take the RN exam to become a RN. Now does that sound right? This is what it says. Im going to ask the school itself but i just wanna make sure by people who are actual RN's. PLEASE I NEED SOME ADVICE LOL
